Temperature Sensor Probe - Room & Floor Sensor for Underfloor Heating

A temperature sensor probe that tells your thermostat what's actually happening, either the temperature of the floor itself or the air in the room.

On underfloor heating the floor sensor matters more than people expect. It's what stops the floor being driven too hot, which protects engineered wood, vinyl and laminate finishes that have a maximum surface temperature. It also stops the room overshooting and wasting gas or electricity getting there.

Where it's used

• Floor temperature sensing under tile, wood, vinyl and laminate
• Room air temperature sensing where the thermostat sits somewhere unrepresentative
• Multi zone systems where each room needs its own reading

Fitting it

The probe is usually run in a conduit within the screed or between the joists so it sits under the finished floor, and the tail connects back to the sensor terminals on your thermostat. Running it in conduit is worth the extra few minutes, because it means the probe can be pulled out and replaced later without lifting the floor.

Before you order

Sensor probes are not universal. Check the sensor type your thermostat expects, and the cable length you need from the thermostat position to where the probe will sit, before ordering. If you're unsure which one suits your thermostat, get in touch and we'll check for you.
